Day 5, Give Thanks
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV
One of my good friends once said, “the easiest job in the world... be a critic”. We can see that, turn on the news and it’s full of critics. The problem with critics is that most of the time there is no solution, negativity brings destruction.
Paul reminds us that having a positive outlook in life will get us farther in life as you will find possibilities in the midst of the trial. We find Paul in jail and he is leading a praise and worship group, then he leads a bible study and a baptism. Once he went to a place so heathen that there was no church or gatherings, instead of getting discouraged he walks out of the city to worship and finds a group of believers there. Every time he gets beat up and left for death, he stands up shakes the dust off and continues on preaching the gospel. Paul has learned that in every situation, if we are praising God, eventually there’s will be a positive outcome. Therefore he gives thanks in every stage in life.
In a world full of negativity, thankful people have a better chance of shining. Today, let’s give God thanks for the opportunity to contrast his kingdom with the kingdom of darkness. While everyone sinks their thoughts into darkness we have a chance to uplift everyone so that they may see God! For that we give thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving day!
Today Lord help us to see the world with the same love and outlook that you have for it. Help us to see possibilities where see negativity, help us to bring light into a bastillion of darkness.
