Day 1, 40 days of communion with God.

And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians. Acts 11:26 ESV

There are days one never forgets. I was about 10-11 years old, the old, gray and skinny landline phone, located in the family office rang. Hello, I said, and the voice said Fernando and started talking to me about business things. I rapidly interrupted and said I think you are looking for my dad. Oh! but you sound so much like him! replied the voice from the other side of the phone.

I’ll never forget the day when I was first confused for my dad. It was a joyous day, a day when all the adopted jokes from my brother were put to rest. That was the day that I knew that the world knew I belonged to the family, but more importantly that was the day I knew I was in the right path, now I sounded like my dad.

That is the goal, to sound, to act and be like our Heavenly Father. Today you and I begin a journey that we know will end up in us sounding and being like God. 40 days of constant communion with God, 40 days of spending time in His presence. Like the followers of the way in Antioch, we want people to say they are Christians for they sound and behave like Christ.

For the next 40 days, that’s our purpose to know Christ and to let the world know of Him. So here’s what we’d like you to do.

  1. Pray at 7:00 AM & PM or twice a day as your schedule allows.

  2. Make your devotional a priority. Do not rush through it just to fulfill a requirement. Carve out a time, and be intentional.

  3. Make a goal to double and triple your regular worship time. Spend time in the study of Gods word and also in Prayer.

  4. Spend time in getting to know God, praise Him for who he is.

  5. Spend time listening to what He is saying and what he will say.

  6. Find a prayer partner! pray with them daily!

Today's Prayer:

As we begin this journey of 40 days with you God, Speak to us! By the time we are done, may the Holy Spirit live within us! In the name of Jesus we pray AMEN
