August 27-September 2
Message: Have you ever had a moment when it just seemed like everything was working against you? Maybe your car broke down, your computer was hacked, your identity stolen. Perhaps you lost your job, lost a friend, or lost a dog. Maybe your kids were complaining, the baby was crying, your spouse betrayed you, and everyone abandoned you. Maybe it all happened at once! Have you ever felt like the devil is out to get you? Well, he is. Satan wants to destroy you. But, thankfully, he can’t have his way unless you let him. You can stop him if you only remember, apply, and believe one simple truth. Don’t miss this Sabbath’s sermon entitled, “Simon, Simon” as we continue our series, “When God Calls Your Name…twice.”
Prayer: Sometimes churches fight against each other. They get territorial and think that they succeed when another church fails. This is not the case. Jesus said, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few: therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Luke 10:2 When Jesus looks at Greene County, He sees a bountiful harvest ready to be reaped. Jesus instructs us to pray that more people will be activated as laborers in HIS harvest.Churches should not be in competition or hold an evil spirit toward one another. We are laboring for the same harvest, and the harvest isn’t ours. But the most interesting thing about this prayer that Jesus asks us to pray is that we can’t pray for God to send out more laborers unless we are willing to go ourselves. Are you serving as a laborer in His harvest? Do whatever it takes so that you can be. Let us pray that the Lord will lay on our hearts a conviction about how He is calling US to serve HIS church and reap HIS harvest. And let’s not worry about those who are playing a zero sum game.
Did you know that the last Tuesday of every month, right after school from 3:15-3:30pm at Greeneville Adventist Academy we gather to pray over the prayer requests of students. It was great to see such a strong turnout this past Tuesday. So proud of our principal, teachers, kids, and school. God is doing amazing things at GAA!
Feel free to join us next time and partner with us in prayer for our kids and our school.
Katia and I had a great time sharing a worship thought for morning worship on Monday at GAA. We talked about having integrity.
The highlight of my week this week was a Tuesday night party for the Riverview Primary Sabbath School class at the Svendson home. Suzy Svendson did a great job organizing the kids and they served burritos with first class service. It was a lot of fun!
Leaders of the church were invited to come and share how they serve the church while the kids served them.
As you can see, we have a great group and a lot of boys!!!
It was really entertaining watching them play red light, green light.
Our little girl lasted awhile, until she finally fell asleep for a nap. Thank you Chelle Tomlinson for being such a comfy place to take a nap!
Last Sabbath many from our Riverview family came out to support Lorenzo Carreno and his family at the funeral service for his cousin. Tough times are tough. But it always makes it better when you know you have family that is there to love and support you through it.
Personal: Our hearts were overjoyed this week at the news that Anna’s brother and sister-in-law gave birth to a happy, healthy baby boy named Elijah Daniel. We can’t wait to meet him this Labor Day Weekend!
We had a great time at the Astro’s game for Takoma night. Neat baseball stadium they have at Tusculum.
