A Sabbath of Remembrance - April 11th
When is the last time that you thought about what Jesus has done for you? When is the last time that you paused to reflect upon God's goodness to you in the form of sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross? I invite you to do it, RIGHT NOW.
Just before the cross, Jesus does something VERY significant. He celebrates the Passover with His disciples. You can read about the original Passover in Exodus 12. But of course, the Passover pointed FORWARD to Jesus who is "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." (John 1:29)
And so, Jesus re-purposed the Passover feast and instituted what we commonly call, "The Lord's Supper." Jesus presented the bread and grape juice as a symbol of His body and blood given for us. And 1 Corinthians 11:24-25 records that Jesus told his disciples to repeat this symbolism. "Do this in remembrance of Me," Jesus said.
So, back to my question, when was the last time that you have called to remembrance what Jesus has done for you?
We had planned to have a communion service this Sabbath, but with COVID-19 and all its consequences we have decided to delay that service for another two months or so. Rest assured we will celebrate what Christ has done when this time is behind us.
But there is NOTHING to stop us from remembering what Christ has done for us right now! I was lost, but now am found. I was blind, but now I see. What has Jesus done for you? Feel free to leave a comment below.
This Sabbath will be a Sabbath of remembrance. We will remember what Jesus has done! Hope you will join us at
